Situated on the East coast of Yorke Peninsula in the shelter of
beautiful Oyster Bay… Stansbury is an ideal destination for
family holidays, fishing or just relaxing the hours away.The
safe beach and calm waters of the bay are ideal for swimming and
water skiing, with windsurfing and kite surfing further out
along the spit.
Dolphins can often be seen frolicking in the bay. Mornings and
evenings are the best times to see the dolphins in action.
Stansbury offers seasonal beach and jetty fishing plus an
all-tide three lane boat ramp and a swimming pontoon situated at
the jetty. Stansbury caters well for the fisherman. Crabbing
season is in all the months beginning with “R”. Call into the

Fishing Guide. If you prefer to have someone else catch your
fish and do the hard work, there is a Fish Monger on the edge of
town; you can purchase your fresh fish to cook at home.
There is a great, well-equipped and fenced children’s playground
on the foreshore, which is a short walk from the town centre and
caravan park. The play equipment incorporates two play stations
providing a variety of activities for children of all ages. The
well-maintained foreshore offers plenty of barbeque and picnic
facilities, and shaded areas are dotted along the foreshore from
the jetty reserve right up to the Caravan Park entrance.
A 5km coastal walking trail from the Foreshore Caravan Park to
Pitts Cutting offers great views across the Gulf of St Vincent.
During winter and spring native vegetation can be seen in full
bloom along the cliff top walk.
Stansbury offers both jetty and boat fishing facilities with a
modern boat ramp and historic jetty catering for both the novice
and more serious fisherman. The Stansbury Jetty is good for
catching blue crabs in the summer months, as well as squid,
mullet, garfish, tommies and snook at night under the jetty
lights. The Stansbury back beach is also great for raking blue
swimmer crabs and fishing for mullet in the autumn months.
Visitors have a choice of accommodation including the Stansbury
Foreshore Caravan Park which features beach front shaded lawn
sites and deluxe ensuite villas and cabins, a modern camp
kitchen and up-graded amenities block. There are many other
Motels, holiday homes, flats and units available for holiday
rental within the town. The Dalrymple Hotel, overlooking Oyster
Bay, provides pub food, cold beer and a great selection of South
Australian wines.
Town shopping facilities include a post office, supermarket,
chemist, craft shop, butcher, hairdresser, cafe and a takeaway
food shop.. The petrol station is in Weaver Street and is open
seven days a week. BPay, EFTPOS and ATM facilities are
available.
Sporting facilities include a nine-hole golf course, tennis and
basketball courts, bowls club (visitors welcome) and soccer,
cricket and football are played on the town oval during the
season.
Stansbury is the perfect place to set up camp, and plan day
